This is a list of versions and changes in versions of SIGuardian™. ‘+’ means new feature added ‘*’ means bug-fix

1.7.345 beta release – December, 14 - 2004.
	* Fixed bug in localization – East-European languages (for example Japan) doesn’t show correctly. Fixed. * Web update check – asks user before.

1.7.323 beta release – December, 7 - 2004.
	+ New localization engine! + New setup engine - now based on Windows Installer (msi) technology,so network deployment are more easy and can be made using many other tools! + Dicsount on purchase during first or second day after install added. + Changes in version numbering - now build number used as third number in version. * bug in UI – language combobox, mouse cursor changed to hand. Fixed. * web update – error not found information. Fixed.

1.7.1 bugfix release (build # ) – December, - 2003.
	* bug in UI – checkbox in Internet autoupdate check don’t save it status. Fixed. * Internet check for update – now calling after show SIGuardian main window. * Internet check for update – now no any error boxes if newer version not found. * Personal settings for each HDD – don’t work. No any HDDs displayed in the left pane. Fixed.

1.7 RELEASE (build #280 ) – November,10 - 2003.
	+ Added weekly check for program updates from Internet (in case it enabled in options). * Confirmation about creating link to SIGuardian in startup program group – removed. * Fixed bug with not saving options in some cases.

1. beta – Release Candidate 1 (build #269 ) – November,1 - 2003.
	+ Added Chinese Traditional language. * some bugfixes.

1.7 beta (build #265 ) – August,2 - 2003.
	+ Added Exception handler – in case of some exception detailed error report log can be mailed to developer. + Added Web Update feature – check for new version in the Internet, display information about new version, download and install.

1.6 beta – Release Candidate 1 (build #242 ) – March,31 - 2003.
	+ Added Hibernate temperature value – now system hibernates only if hard drive temperature overheat hibernate temperature. + Added Hibernation confirmation window – now you have 10 seconds to cancel system hibernation. * When you switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units, maximum hard disk temperature value don’t converts automatically. Fixed.

1.6 beta (build #239 ) – January, 27 - 2003.
	+ Now all HDD Temperature code integrated in SIGuardian, so we don’t need HDD Temperature service. + Hibernate support in case of overheat added. * changed “T.E.C.” (Threshold Estimated Condition) to more clear “Estimated hard drive fail date”. * serious bug on some systems with more than one hard drive – SIGuardian show only first drive. Fixed. * language translation – in some cases don’t translate messages and write something like ”T10” instead of normal messages. Fixed. * some important internal code changes.

1.51 beta (build #229 ) – May, 13 - 2002.
	+ New function – immediate system hibernation in case of overheating! + Now before start SIGuardian check, do you have administrative rights (in Windows NT/2000/XP) and if not, shows error message. * Options – show or not splash screen at startup and show only changed attributes – doesn’t saves correctly. Fixed. * In case of drive overheating sending message to network computer – function doesn’t work. Fixed. * Some other small bugs fixed.

1.5 (build #216 ) – December, 5 - 2001.
	* If attribute changed, not always shows S.M.A.R.T. details tab. Fixed. * By default Russian language selected. Fixed to English

1.5 release (build #215 ) – December, 3 - 2001.
	* On Uninstall HDD Temperature service don’t deleted correctly. Fixed. * On Uninstall HDD Temperature registry data (program settings) don’t deleted. Fixed. * Some changes in registration scheme. * some minor bugfixes.

1.5 beta (build #212 ) – November, 29 - 2001.
	* Bug in HDD Temperature service – only registered users can work with it (don’t work without registration key). Fixed.

1.5 beta (build #208 ) – November, 20 - 2001.
	+ Improved integration with HDD temperature. If you setup temperature monitoring but HDD Temperature service is not running, SIGuardian automatically disable temperature monitoring. * On some systems SIGuardian doesn’t start – only splash windows shows for some seconds and it exits. Fixed. * Don’t work under Windows XP. Fixed. * Error message “Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window” when “General” tab active and you choose another drive. Fixed. * In some cases last checked S.M.A.R.T. attributes values don’t save during shutdown system shutdown. Fixed. * In main SIGuardian window current temperature of hard drive refreshes only when S.M.A.R.T. check occurs, not then temperature. In tray icon all normal. Fixed. Now temperature in main window (under manufacture logo) refreshes actually. * Sometimes error message “Division by zero.” and “S.M.A.R.T. details” doesn’t show correctly. Fixed. * Changes in drive temperature attribute don’t track by default only in IBM drives. Fixed to all.

1.5 beta RC3 (build #197 ) – August, 31 - 2001.
	+ Integrations of new HDD Temperature, working as service. So, all troubles with temperature indication must be fixed according to HDD Temperature 0.5 beta. + Added option to set maximum temperature for drives individually. * Due to internal error, for other than IBM drives names of SMART attributes “Drive Temperature” and “Write Error Rate” don’t displayed. Fixed. * When service is not working – message displayed end temperature checking disabled. * UI – when you have “SMART details” tab active and select new drive in combo box, mouse wheel and keyboard don’t scroll box with SMART attributes. Fixed. * Raw values in advanced mode displayed in inverse order. Fixed.

1.5 beta RC2 (build #189 ) – August, 22 - 2001.
	+ Options – added individual settings for temperature for each hard drive. Now you can set temperature check interval, icon text color and icon background. Also, you can enable/disable temperature show for individual drives. + Select computer in network added. When you enter computer for sending to network messages about attribute changes – now you can press “Select network computer” button near text box and you’ll see all computers in your network. * Icon in system tray flashing when show temperature. Fixed. * Send to network computer – name don’t saved in settings. Fixed. * Some other minor but important :) bugs fixed.

1.5 beta RC1.1 (build #180 ) – August, 1 - 2001.
	* Fixed bug with “NetworkMessageBufferSend”. Now works with Win9x/Me.

1.5 beta RC1 (build #178 ) – July, 31 - 2001.
	+ Now you can send messages about attribute change to another computer in the network. + Drives Temperatures now can be shown in the system tray. + New mode: show only changed attributes. When SIGuardian asks you, do you want to see info about attribute change and you say yes, it will show only those attributes what really changed. * SIGuardian window can be restored from the system tray by the click (not the double-click as in older versions). * Due to changes in IBM 60GXP identification format, old versions don’t detect 60GXP as IBM hard drive. Fixed. * Some other fixes.

1.5 beta 3 (build #163 ) – June, 28 - 2001.
	+ Now shows info about Drive Temperature! Only for IBM models. Temperature shown in form: Current/Minimum/Maximum (two last modes only if supported – usually in 60GXP and higher models). Also you can select temperature units – Celsius or Fahrenheit. If you have info about drives with temperature sensor other than IBM manufacture – send us info. + New info about hard drive size – in LBA mode (all modern drives) physical (or logical) info about cylinders, heads and sectors per track gives incorrect information. Only info about sectors in LBA mode correct for modern drives. * Some controls don’t translates to another languages. Fixed. * Another fix with T.E.C. date calculation <g>.

1.5 beta 2 (build #150) – 19 June 2001.
	+ Now you can save SMART information about all your hard drives in HTML file. Press “Save to HTML” button on “SMART” tab. * Serious bugfix in T.E.C. date calculation – now it more precise. <g> * Repaint of “SMART details” tab – not always do correctly. Fixed. * Hints – now showing until mouse leaves control. Especially useful when reading SMART attribute meaning (just point mouse over progress bar under the attribute name). * Some other fixes of user interface.

1.5 beta 1 (build #146) – May 2001.
	+ WiseControl™ - new function. During normal hard drive operation, SMART attributes may vary lightly – by one or two points both higher and lower. And on every change, SIGuardian (or other SMART attribute control program) notifies you, so some time later this bother you. <g> Now we introduce WiseControl™ - new analyze mode for SIGuardian. Using some internal calculations, SIGuardian in WiseControl™ mode will disturb you only in real (serious) hard disk life changes. Warning! WiseControl™ is under development and in some cases may function doubtful. Please, be patient to beta. <g> + Now shows drive position – Master/Slave, Primary/Secondary * Slow refresh while resizing window. Fixed. * If you resize window and after that select another drive in combo box, columns on “S.M.A.R.T. Details” tab may repaint incorrectly. Fixed. * Fixed bug with “BroadcastSystemMessageA” message in Windows 95 system. * In some cases on international systems long date format may be wrong. * Must be fixed bug in Japanese and Chinese translations.

1.4 release (build #130) – 19 February 2001.
	* Fixed bug in e-mail reports about attribute change. Instead "S.M.A.R.T. attribute changed from 245 to 246", it sends "SIGuardian reports at 11-12-00 21:44:03 S.M.A.R.T. attribute "Raw Read Error Rate S.M.A.R.T. attribute 245 was changed from 246". Now fixed.

1.4 beta 3 [pre-release] (build #127 ) – 12 February 2001.
	+ Now beta versions stop functioning at specific date – and this date show in Registration info box at “About” tab. * Serious bug with Windows Millennium Edition (WinME) and “smartvsd.vxd” fixed. Now you don’t need to manual seek and copy this file. * New type of detection of second running copy (based on mutex). * In Windows ME or Win9x you can see “Error T18” – because default (English) language was not loaded. Now fixed. * When saved form size, we also saved form state, so SIGuardian at usual start always goes in tray, even if you says what want to look at attribute change. Fixed.

1.4 beta 2 (build #119 ) – 8 February 2001.
	+ Now in unregistered version you can’t save changes in options. This feature available only for registered users. + “S.M.A.R.T. details” tab – now you can scroll it up & down using keyboard or mouse wheel. + Now you can disable splash window at startup. Go in ‘Options’ tab and uncheck “Show splash window at startup” (keep in mind, what options changes saved only for registered users). + Now SIGuardian saves in registry (of current user) window size, position and active tab. * When you choose another drive, now focus automatically switched to main window (tab control). * Multiple asks about attribute change when you don’t work with computer long time – fixed. * In some cases (mostly if you have more than one drive) some “Exception” bug can appear when you choose to display another drive. Now fixed.

1.4 beta 1 (build #109 ) – 30 January 2001.
	+ Now you can resize SIGuardian window and information in “S.M.A.R.T. details” tab also resized. + “S.M.A.R.T. details” tab – now you can set width of columns individually.

1.31 release (build #105 ) – 6 December 2000.
	* Some little bugfix and changes in documentation.

1.31 beta (build #103 ) – 25 November 2000.
	+ Info about remaining trial days now can be seen in About tab. + Added support for old Western Digital HDD model “AC21200H” (1.2Gb) – it reports what don’t supports S.M.A.R.T., but actually does. * Multilingual support added and new bugs added <g>. Fixed bug with question on Windows shutdown or logoff – now SIGuardian closes correctly, without any questions. * About tab – info about registration – removed “Registered to” duplicate line. * About tab – info about program version – added minor version number – for some minor updates (like this <g>) * Due to large amount of letters using Problem Report Tool, added confirmation dialog before sending mail to PalickSoft. <g> * Gray background on button’s glyphs fixed (removed).

1.3 release - Russian (build #90 ) – 13 November 2000.
	* Multilingual translation for Settings Wizard doesn’t work. Now fixed. * Multilingual translation in Problem Report Tool added.

1.3 release (build #86) – 10 November 2000.
	+ No more annoying nag screens! (but trial version stops function after 30 days of use) + Added animation on SIGuardian startup and information about checked disks. + New tool – Problem Report Tool – now you don’t need to answer to our technical questions in order to fix your problems – just use this tool to submit your problems and it automatically added all needed info about your hardware configuration, so we can answer faster and more precisely – so, solve your problems faster!

1.3 beta Russian (build #82 ) – 31 October 2000.
	* Corrected from scaling on small/large fonts – so in 800x600 SIGuardian doesn’t looks with large fonts.

1.3 beta (build #79 ) – 25 October 2000.
	+ Now user can disable sound on button press and page switching. Use “Enable sound” checkbox in the “Options” tab. + SIGuardian icon in tray now additional show Nearest T.E.C. date. + Registration info (user name, license type and other) now shows at the “About” tab. * If you disable some attribute monitoring, SIGuardian continues to count this attribute in the T.E.C. calculations – so, SIGuardian shows Nearest T.E.C. date using this attribute. Fixed. * Some minor changes in program UI design.

1.3 beta (build #75) – 14 October 2000.
	+ Multilingual support added. Please, refer to the “Multilingual info” file in the SIGuardian program group. * Changes in documentation – now all files in HTML format. * SIGuardian help icon added to the SIGuardian program group. * Serious bug fixed – if your HDD was in T.E.C. state at the moment of installing SIGuardian, it doesn’t report about it! Now fixed. * Many, many grammar errors in help file fixed. Big thanks to Jacob Mandernack! * Some changes in protection scheme – program size smaller.

1.2 release (build #70) – 4 September 2000.
	+ New feature (many users request it) – now you can disable monitoring of any attribute – just select HDD in Options tab and remove check box near attribute. This may be useful, for example, in IBM HDDs, which monitors drive temperature, so this attribute changed very often. + New (more attractive) trial reminder and end trial info boxes. + Now dll with data compressed using ASPack – the best executable file compression utility, so it size is more than twice smaller! * Bug with message “Incorrect function” and non-detection second hard disk. * Some bugs in systems with 2 and more HDDs fixed. * Now shortcut in StartUp program group named generally ‘SIGuardian’, without version number – this prevents from conflict with other versions.

1.1 release (build #60 ) – 30 August 2000..
	* Some changes in documentation: we remove “Future Plans” – now you can find it in help file, and “Features” moved to “ReadMe” section “Program Highlights”. Other files, such as “ReadMe” and “FAQ” are significantly rewritten. * In SIGuardian program group two icons added – reference to SIGuardian home page and to Register (Buy online) page. * If you’re using “Simulate Attribute Change” mode, result of simulated T.E.C. prediction was persists until SIGuardian restarted (not changed even on again choose disk in combo box). Now fixed – just choose this disk again in combo box and all info will be updated with current (not simulated) data. * Same bug with “Simulate T.E.C.” fixed. * Problems with displaying logo for Seagate hard disks fixed and tested.

	+ little more detailed help file <g> + In unregistered version – menu item “Register” to enter registration code manually. Not visible in registered version. + Added icons on tabs – UI enhancement. + More detailed description of each S.M.A.R.T. attribute meaning in hints * If attribute change occurs, SIGuardian don’t change icon and don’t repaint “S.M.A.R.T. details” tab even on next S.M.A.R.T. check – until restarted or disk choose again in combo box. Fixed. Now if on next S.M.A.R.T. check no attribute change (comparison to last check) – SIGuardian repaint “S.M.A.R.T. detail” tab and highlight of changed attribute goes off. * Install now don’t create icon for ‘uninstall’ – according to ‘Windows 2000 specification’ users must uninstall programs using Control Panel – Add/Remove Programs. * Some logo size change – little smaller. * If you'll try to run second copy of SIGuardian, now it activate currently running instance. * Under WinNT/2000 now only administrators can use SIGuardian (in past SIGuardian try to run, but always get an error). In version 2.0 any user will can run SIGuardian in WinNT/2000. * At first run SIGuardian now don’t show all attributes as changed. * In “Check at startup” mode on attribute value change if user ask to show disk info, program minimizes to tray – fixed. Now simple show “S.M.A.R.T. details tab”.

	+ In ‘S.M.A.R.T.’ tab shows date/time of last check SMART attributes + Scroll box in S.M.A.R.T. details tab can be scrolled using keyboard too * Gray background on glyphs in buttons on some machine – fixed. * Seagate HDDs logo must show normal * Serious change in T.E.C. date calculation – now it more accurate because use diff in hours, not in days (when attribute change occurs) * When shutdown Windows (or logoff) don’t ask confirmation for close program. * If HDD don’t support S.M.A.R.T. on ‘S.M.A.R.T. details’ tab show message about it.

1.0 – release – 30 June 2000..
	+ in Options tab after choose mode (Basic or Advanced) SIGuardian immediately redraws info about HDD. * ATAPI devices (with Win9x) in rare cases cause errors. Detect of ATAPI devices disabled (anyway its don’t support S.M.A.R.T.). * on some computers (without Internet Explorer with Active Desktop) says error about ‘SHGetSpecialFolderPath’. Fixed. * in some cases SIGuardian starting in ‘check only at startup’ don’t warning you about attribute change (if it occurs). Fixed. * grammar errors in some text fixed.

0.4 beta 4 – pre-release.
	+ color highlights of changed S.M.A.R.T. attribute + “Simulate S.M.A.R.T. attribute change” button + days before beta expiration counter in startup and About dialog. + send reports to e-mail is implemented. Please note what SIGuardian sends e-mail reports using you default mail client and settings. + Test button for e-mail settings test. + HTML help used. * “Simulate TEC” mode – fixed. If attribute value is equal to threshold, SIGuardian displays its bar as full of red elements. * some changes in behavior of buttons in S.M.A.R.T. tab – selected only at point of mouse * serious bug under Windows 9x – SIGuardian don’t start on some system. Now must be all ok. * wrong icons display under Windows 9x – fixed. * On T.E.C. additional e-mail will be send. * Type of work in “Check at startup and exit” changed – now it doesn’t write SIGuardian start in registry. Assumed that SIGuardian starts in “Start Up” program group. * So, now SIGuardian Installer create shortcut in “Start Up” to start SIGuardian at system startup. * minor changes in attributes display – labels positions and other. * logo change. * large HDDs (more than 8Gb) size counter fixed again. ;)

0.3 Third public beta.
	+ added logo “S.M.A.R.T. system compliant” + Settings Wizard – implemented. + added info about all IBM S.M.A.R.T. attributes (text description and IDs) + T.E.C. simulation mode – except show “failed” drive info. * small icon in tray corrected – green, orange or red (depends on drive health state) * IBM HDDs must identify normally and show its logo * changed type of HDD size calculation. Works with HDDs more than 8Gb. * some other minor bugs fixed

0.2. Second public beta
	+ added support for more than one drive under Windows NT/2000 + added show of some advanced info (ATA, MWDMA, UDMA supported modes) + added show of RAW and WORST attribute values (in advanced mode) + possibility to show attributes names in case of HDD type (manufacture) + minimize to tray and working in background * fixed bug in install – now don’t more errors with ‘smartvsd.vxd’ * works under Windows 95/98 * Manufactures logos draws in WMF (in beta 1 – in BMP).
